Little House Of Dreams

My Little House Of Dreams
by Louisa Cooke Don-Carlos

My little house of dreams! It lies
Green roofed, white walled, 'neath Kansas skies.
Its rough stone chimneys in a row,
Its glistening windows all aglow
With light and warmth and kindly cheer
That bide within thru all the year.

My little house of dreams! It stands
Upon a hill o'er meadowlands,
From whence, at dawning, faint and sweet
Comes a lambkin's plaintive bleat,
And meadow larks' shrill pipe, in tune
With all the scents and sounds of June.

My little house of dreams! In spring
About its eaves the redbirds sing,
And gray doves, in the evening cool,
Lave their pink feet, within my pool,
Whose placid, shallow waters lie,
Roseate beneath the westward sky.

My little house of dreams! Who knows
How warm, when fall the winter snows,
How bright its fires, how fair its rooms,
How safe and still 'neath starlit glooms,
My cozy little house of dreams,
All seasons are its best--it seems.

My house of dreams! Where order reigns
Behind its glistening window panes.
Shady its trees, its garden fair
And best of all, my love is there,
With shining eyes and calm, sweet face,
The benediction of the place,
And peace and joy and heaven's light beams
Within my little house of dreams.

The Beach & The Turbine

A sunset beach shoot at Gwithian Towans produced some very dramatic images. Following the beach shoot we drove to the wind turbine farm at Carland Cross for a long exposure night shot of the turbines operating at speed.

The Eden Project is a visitor attraction in the United Kingdom, including the world’s largest greenhouse. Inside the artificial biomes are plants that are collected from all around the world. The project is located in a reclaimed Kaolinite pit, located 2 kilometers (1.25 mi) from the town of St Blazey and 5 kilometres (3 mi) from the larger town of St Austell, Cornwall.
The complex comprises a number of domes that house plant species from around the world, each dome emulating a natural biome. The domes are made out of hundreds of hexagons plus a few pentagons that connect the whole construction; each of these is a transparent cushion made of tough plastic. The first dome emulates a tropical environment, the second a warm temperate, Mediterranean environment.
The project was conceived by Tim Smit and designed by architect Nicholas Grimshaw and engineering firm Anthony Hunt and Associates (now part of Sinclair Knight Merz). Davis Langdon carried out the project management, Sir Robert McAlpine and Alfred McAlpine did the construction and MERO designed and built the biomes. Land Use Consultants led the masterplan and landscape design.
The project took 2½ years to construct and opened to the public on 17 March 2001.

Sepia Fields Forever

Yellow Snow
Sepia Fields Forever.
Another view of Cornwall in the snow. I used several techniques for this image, including subtle HDR, an Orton-style sepia filter, dodging & burning and a nice subtle use of Fractalius (which is a very funky program to use).

Sunrise Panorama

Sunrise Panorama, originally uploaded by kazam media.

Sunrise...
...another shot of the view from our new home. I actually got up early for once, so thought I had better record the fact!
This is a stitched panorama of 3 shots, taken with a Sigma 10-20 wide angle lens.
This one has been processed to give it a bit more "oomph" - not HDR.

Looks precarious! One false move and that rock will go...
Did she jump or was she pushed?
